Development:Site Translation
First of all, thanks for your contribution! Our site uses MediaWiki (from Wikipedia) to manage content, so it is very easy to use.
To help me with a translation, first email me asking for an editor account on this wiki (registration is disabled to avoid spam). After you receive my answer, follow the steps below to translate pages to your language.
Translating
1) Log in to this wiki
2) There are many pages on this wiki, so maybe you don't want to translate them all. Here are all of the important pages:
- Main Page: this one needs to be translated
- Installation: this one needs to be translated too. If you don't want to translate the specific pages, include links to the English specific pages (see the portuguese one)
- Legal notices: needs to be translated (very short)
- Contribute: this page is important to help the project
- Congratulations: this page is important. It appears when people install IEs4Linux.
- FAQ and Development pages do not need to be translated
3) Choose a page to translate and first create this page by accessing its URL. When translating something, always add the language prefix. For example:
/ies4linux/page/Main_Page becomes /ies4linux/page/Es/Página_Inicial in Spanish
Note that you are encouraged to translate the page name too.
4) Translate the page by clicking the edit button at the bottom of the page. Translate all text and update links. If you have any question (about the wiki, about the translation etc), please email me.
5) After you finish the translation, please send to me an email with the new Page Titles and the corresponding pages in English. I use this to update the drop down menu of each page.
