Well, here it is. Download now the first Beta release of the new IEs4Linux 2.0 . It has many, many improvements. Well, here is a list of new features:

  • Now it download IE6 directly from Microsoft (~12 MB against ~80 MB from Evolt)
  • IE5.5 and 5.0 are downloaded from Evolt, but not the full versions, the standalone versions (~3MB each)
  • Just to emphasize: I reduced the downloads from 250MB to 20MB ;-)
  • Multi-language IE installations (and multi-language IEs4Linux program)
  • Many bugs fixed, such as: vbscript errors, dll wildcard problems, wine o.9.12 support
  • Mirror selection for Evolt downloads
  • New interface: more flexible, easier and funnier

Download now! I need help with:

  • Testing this software
  • Writing IEs4Linux translations (see here for details)
  • Suggestions to improve this version
  • IE5.5 and 5.0 are working as they are supposed to?
  • Linux testing on Gentoo, Fedora, Suse, Slackware and others
  • FreeBSD testing

I said that IEs4Linux would be using an Graphical Interface on 2.0.Well, I tested many ways to do this (zenity, kdialog, xdialog) and decided to keep it simple. The bash interface I developed isn’t so unfriendly and I think it is better.
