IEs 4 Linux supports Flash 9!
Adobe/Macromedia launched Adobe Flash Player 9 yesterday ans IEs4Linux still works. You don’t have to download IEs4Linux again; our latest releases already support Flash 9 automagically installation (without clicks, configurations or complications).
If you have a working environment with IEs4Linux and Flash 8, you have two options:
- Remove swflash.cab inside ~/.ies4linux/downloads (or other folder you used) and execute ies4linux again
- Or try to update flash by visiting macromedia.com on each IE
I recommend the first option, specially if you can upgrade IEs4Linux to the latest version - also, this option updates all 3 IEs automagically.
When installing Flash 9, you will note some wine error during ies4linux installation. Forget about it, everything works. Future versions will make this error disappear.
And, just for the records, my test environment was: Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper), Wine 0.9.16 and IEs4Linux 2.0 beta 8.
That news is so good I have shed a tear for every developer on this project.
You are the epitome of greatness!
Hope that wasn’t a little overboard,
Mike.
since your test system is ubuntu 6.06 (what many are using these days) would you consider creating a little script that loads all this stuff and adding it to the “easyubuntu” package. that would be really, really nice for dummies like me
Just installed this beautiful piece of software and let it be know that these developers are lords over all that is IE! This has got to be the greatest piece of porting work I’ve seen since Wine 0.0000000001
david,it is a good idea. actually i was considering wine doors too.
maybe some of these developers want to integrate ies4linux with their application.
